On November 2, 1902 Eden Baptist Church was chartered. There were 40 members at that time. It formerly had been the German Baptist of Rex. According to recorded minutes the church for a few months paid $1.35 a month rent and then sometime in 1903 purchased the property from the German Baptist Church of Rex for $300. By 1917 there were 118 people on the roll. The church did real well during the next 13 years and after that it was closed for about 5 years. It was reopened the fall of 1933 by Brother O. E. Boals. This was the first church Brother Boals ever pastored. He is an honorary lifetime member and preached our 86th homecoming message. He ministered for 86 years in churches across Florida and passed away in October of 2020 at the age of 107!

Through the 40's the church had 9 different pastors. They were mission minded. They gave to the association and they gave Christmas baskets. They also assisted needy families in the area as we still do today.

In the 50's we had 8 pastors. Among them was Brother Bob Kirby who was licensed and ordained here. There were also Brothers Drewery, Redding, Tucker, McClellan, Lee and Brother Coleman Padgett.

In the 60's there were 5 pastors. Brother Weldon Johnson, E. Grant, R.R. Carlton, Carter, and in 1965 Brother Gene Warren. It was during this time the present church building was built. It was dedicated June 24, 1973, though some work still needed to be done on the Sunday School rooms. All the trim, the communion table, and the pulpit were made from red oak brought from W. Virginia. They were made by the late Otis Buckland. Brother Warren was here until December of 1974.

In April 1975 Rev. George Robinson became pastor. During his time here there were many firsts. We built our first fellowship hall and most importantly we started our bus ministry, which has been a real blessing to our church. Brother Robinson resigned in October 1981 because of his health.

On March 17, 1982 Brother Jim Blevins was called. The 80's were a time when we saw the Lord really work in our church as never before. We led in baptisms for 2 years and did a lot of expanding. We enlarged our sanctuary, built an addition that has 2 offices and our baptistery, renovated our old fellowship hall into a larger nursery and purchased an additional acre of property. The Lord also blessed us with a new educational building. We dedicated the nursery in memory of H. T. Allen and the new building was dedicated in honor of Viola Terrell. God is so good to us and still rules and reigns. We have such a great opportunity to serve the Lord right now. We thank God for His Son and we give Him the praise and honor for all things. Eden’s long-time Pastor (39years), Jim Blevins passed away on Sunday, January 24th, 2021.
